If I had some complaints/missed opportunities I think it would have been nice if the spirits helped out in some way, not necessarily helping fight Kuvira as Korra suggests at one point (though I wouldn't be opposed to that), but maybe helping the evacuation of people or some other support role. The spirit portal in Republic City was a neat idea and it makes more some visually stunning frames.
It does feel climactic and like our characters have really grown by this point. An awesome moment was when Korra saved Kuvira by blocking the spirit blast. We get a lot of nice action beats that use the characters well, and some sweet moments as well (especially the wedding finale). They told a great story with great characters. Yeah, the Books of LOK may not have been as the Books of ATLA, but I think they were just as good. We saw her grow and change the world in a way few Avatars have. Korra's journey was one of triumph and tragedy, success and failure, joy and sorrow that shaped her into the Avatar she was truly born to be. These shows have never shied from issues people would not think appropriate for children, but that's what made them so great.
#Avatar the legend of korra season 4 episode 12 series
ATLA ended with Katara and Aang kissing, so I had no issue with this series ending with the Avatar finding love. And I am not saying it as itr was a great victory or something, but I actually thought it was a beautiful way to end the series. We knew they were growing closer as Asami was the only person Korra was writing during her time away. Personally, I loved the ending, with Korra and Asami becoming a couple. And who doesn't love watching Korra stand in front of the Spirit Cannon and block that shot to save Kuvira's life? That was just awesome. We saw what is perhaps one of the greatest proposals ever, and I love Zhu Li's line about imagining it exactly that way. It had great action and drama, and it ended beautifully.Īs we saw with ATLA, these people were willing to make the ultimate sacrifice to try and beat Kuvira and save the day.
